Plankton, except grown in ponds for direct consumption of fish that are kept together in the pond, can also be cultivated in particular, both in fiberglass tanks, as well as in concrete ponds and pond soil.

The tendency of increasing demand for fish production efforts to encourage the development of aquaculture in Indonesia. This means that the need for seed increase. To meet the needs of those seeds, seedling manipulation technology has been applied. During this type of feed that is widely used for this purpose is the artificial feed. However, as food fish seed, the type of artificial diets has many shortcomings compared to natural food. Composition of natural food is more complete, so the fish tend to prefer pembenih natural food. This need is difficult to be fulfilled, because there are no employers who invest exclusively in the production of natural fish feed. Natural fish food used as a food fish seed / prawn, largely made his own in a single hatchery. This was deemed impractical and not economical, so it is still very wide open opportunity to open a business of natural fish feed production. For the time being, the main target of natural fish food production is the students, researchers, or companies of shrimp. But in the long run this business has good economic prospects.

Several types of natural food which has been widely cultivated in fresh water is Spirulina, Chlorella, Scenedesmus, Brachionus, Moina and Daphnia. The following will be put forward Moina cultivation (water fleas) by utilizing the waste (manure). Zooplankton Moina is one commonly cultivated in freshwater ponds and fish seed is usually given at 10-15 days old or given to the various types of freshwater fish. Container maintenance for Moina usually a wall-sized kolan not too large (100-150) m2 pool elevation approximately 50-60 cm. Stages of cultivation of work are as follows:

1. Drying pond maintenance. Ponds are dried until completely dry and the soil of the pond to direct sunlight. The duration of drying is usually 3-4 days.
2. Fertilization. The process of fertilization is done in several stages. The first stage is to prepare the fertilizer through fermentation by adding soybean meal / coconut cake. Fermentation time is approximately 7-14 days. Once finished fertilizer fermented, filtered by using filter 0.5 cm. Results filter 1 liter plus coconut cake as much as 200 grams of mixed and then wrapped in sacks of urea and then hung in the former pool maintenance.
